My Approach Series encompasses the notion of the astronaut (myself) as traveling through time. Inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky’s film Solaris, I explore the idea of time as space. As I move through my process, I occupy a space wherein I draw from the past while venturing into the unknown future. In this way, I am mediating between my unconscious and conscious, past and future, and the abstract dimensions of time and space. At some point, at the interstices of past and future wherein renewal takes place, my ideas lock into place, connecting the moment when thought becomes form.
